Scott Aukerman Interview: CDR Christmas



Comedy nerds will curse the day they decided not to be multimillionaires, because the experiences and items available in this year’s Comedy Death-Ray Charity Auction are mind-blowing. Every cent of the auction money will go to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, an efficiently-run non-profit that provides food for almost 900 sites throughout LA County, including for food pantries, senior centers, AIDS hospices, and homes for abused and neglected children. For every $1 that they receive, the LARFB distributes $5 of food and products to people in need.

Last year’s action netted about $22,000 for the food bank, and this year, Aukerman is hoping to increase the donation. In addition to offering bidders extraordinary opportunities, the bidding system now ensures that ALL of the money goes to LARFB. “Last year, eBay took something like 5% (about $2,000). This year, we’re using LA Food Bank's [eBay interface], so eBay won’t get anything. All the auction money will go to the Food Bank.”
